The 20th NYC Chinese New Year Parade Firecrackers Festival

PerkUp® was provided the opportunity through the Supernova Singing Contest, to become the proud sponsor for the stage where The 20th NYC Chinese New Year Parade Firecrackers Festival was held in the Sara D. Roosevelt Park in NYC on Feb 5, 2019.

This was the 20th year that the Firecrackers Festival was held in Chinatown, New York, to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Visitors of all ages and cultural backgrounds participated.  The festival, along with the beautiful weather, attracted over 20,000 residents and tourists to the venue.

The Festival appeared on CBS News in NY and welcomed revelers of all ages and cultural backgrounds.

 

Allegiant President and CEO, Brian Li, was a featured speaker who imparted good wishes for the New Year.

 

The festival opened with cultural performances, including the lion dance, dragon dance, Chinese folk dance, Qipao (a traditional Chinese dress) show, and much more. Children had an especially good time making decorations and lanterns for the Year of Pig, as well as taking pictures with their favorite cartoon figures from The Lego Movie 2.

 

Government officials and their representatives also came to give their best wishes at the festival, including Deputy Consul General of China in New York: Lei Wang, City Councilor: Margaret Chin, Manhattan Borough President: Gale Brewer, and representatives of Governor Cuomo’s team, including Congresswoman: Nydia Velazquez, New York State Assembly: Yuh-Line Niou, and New York State Attorney General: Letitia James, etc.

 

Following the official speeches, the explosion of firecrackers and fireworks pushed the festival to a new high. One million firecrackers were shot off at the venue, deafening people’s ear with their roar.

 

Supernova Singing in the Lunar New Year Festival took place right after the pyrotechnics. Winners from the 7th Supernova Singing Contest performed traditional Chinese New Year songs. The audience was invited on stage to play new year games with the singers. Brian Li, President and CEO of Allegiant Health (a proud sponsor of the performance), also went on stage to award prizes to game participants and send out warm new year wishes to the crowd. The Festival concluded after the Supernova Singing Performance.
