Continual Process Improvement – 2018

Case Study

Allegiant’s Commitment:

Process optimization is a critical operating parameter to assure that processes, products, quality, and costs are controlled. Product protection is assured through our robust Quality checks and balance program. Process optimization strengthens Quality by streamlining and tightly controlling processes. In addition, Process Optimization ensures that costs are controlled so that savings can pass from the facility to the retailer to the consumer. Allegiant is committed to continual process improvement.

Optimizing Processes:

We believe that no process is 100% optimized.  In some instances, less than 100% optimization is necessary to protect quality.  However, optimization can also enhance quality.  Therefore, Allegiant is committed to continual process improvement.

The Challenge:

Optimization must be approached from both an operations and Quality perspective to assure maximum results in all areas of product manufacture.

The Work:

To assure a balanced state of manufacture and quality, while assuring maximum process optimization, Allegiant Health committed to a complete facility and process review.

The review was focused on logistics, inventory control, and manufacturing operations.  The purpose was to analyze all operations to find areas for improvement and implement change.

Teams from logistics, warehouse, manufacturing and quality worked together to develop a seamless process with improved accountability and traceability.

The Results:

In 2018, Allegiant Health’s process improvement strategies have resulted in near 100% inventory control, reduced material handling, increased, yet efficient, in-process verifications, and an overall product release rate of 99.9%.
